Food delivery is not rocket science but it is a brilliant idea in a bee busy city like Nairobi. The food delivery business has trickled here and it has been both small scale and large scale. Small scale in the sense that you just have to have a phone number of the guy /lady who brings you food. Large scale in the sense that many people can order online or through a mobile app. When you have that project that is close to its deadline and you cannot afford the luxury of time to go on a lunch break, you need someone trustworthy to bring you a meal.

This was me a few weeks ago. Being an entrepreneur and blogger requires me to juggle different things. I’ve learned to endure early mornings, late nights and crazy schedules. On a particular Tuesday, I was famished and bogged down with work. I had never ordered food online and my reservations were because I always thought that it was expensive. After going through the hellofood website, I realized that I was wrong. In fact my meal was in Westlands in like 30 minutes, given that I had ordered from Pete’s Cafe & Burrito Haven. Pete’s is somewhere on Ngong road in Bishop Magua Centre. Given the Nairobi traffic, I was expecting my food to arrive in like an hour. My burritos were still hot on arrival. My salad was crisp and fresh. The delivery fee was Kshs 100. I also had another experience with hellofood. We once ordered pizza with my friends and decided to time how long the delivery would take. Again, the food arrived earlier than we expected. There is nothing worse than waiting for food for more than an hour.
