The 2016 Stellenbosch Wine Festival was presented by Pick n Pay from 5 – 7 February at Coetzenburg Sports Grounds. This was in a bid to celebrate the harvest period. Stellenbosch is a great wine producing area in South Africa and so many people from different countries attended the event. Being a Kenyan Wine Blogger/ African Wine Blogger, this was a huge opportunity for me.

I did not portend that this event would be this exciting but we had such a great time. I spent the whole afternoon and evening with Zulika (a new friend from Cape Town) and Sylar. There were all the ingredients for a great time. There was bottomless wine from amazing producers, great food, good company and live music. Something about live music changes the entire mood of a place. There were great and fun activities. Guests would get to sample food and wine and sit on the grass or sit on chairs.
Today @StellWineFest had me hook, line and sinker. #wineinkenya #Nairobi #blogging #winetourism #wine pic.twitter.com/cjcHbNQPqG

Wine connects people and it was great making new friends from all over the world. Some people were curious about life in Nairobi , wine in Kenya, and we traded stories. I had a great experience at the grape stomping ground. There was a booth that run a grape stomping competition. We decided to give a try and we came at second place. We also won first place at barrel rolling. After an eventful day, we sat on the grass listening to some live music and watched the sunset before returning to the hotel. That had to be one of the most exciting days ever!
