Representatives from all sectors in the travel industry converged in Nairobi from 12-14th October 2016, for the Magical Kenya Travel Expo 2016. This event saw people from different parts of the world visit Kenya to learn more about the travel industry. I was part of the visiting media and I attended the event on the 12th and 13th October. If you have been following my blog lately, you can tell that I have started doing more travel stories. While food & wine remain the focal point of posts, the goal is to bring you more stories from within and without.

I was interested in learning, networking and covering the experience. There were many people during the first day, and the booths included, hotels, lodges, travel companies, counties, airlines, and tourism boards. The theme of the event was “tourism for all” and KTB launched the Kenyan Passport which was their new product. Some of the stands that impressed me were the #IncredibleIndia stands, Heritage Hotels, Jacaranda Hotels and Lamu County Government stands. Counties also worked hard to showcase their offerings and it was a time well spent. I wish I would have seen more local people free to walk in, but the last day was open to the public. My take is that domestic tourism is also very important for a country and by making such expos and events accessible to people, locals will get to travel more. However, I did not get time to attend any of the seminars. Find below some of the photos that I took.
