Marie Pierre Wine club really outdid themselves this time and I remember whispering to Pete (organizer) how great his last tasting was. We were in Westend hotel at Lower Kabete and the Tasting was taking place at the 2nd floor. This was a serene setting because; how can you get tired of a magnificent view as you sip wine? Wine tastings are not just about tasting different wines and talking about the body, acidity, tannicity, finish and other complicated jargon that we wine enthusiasts like to talk about. It is about networking and learning. There were so many familiar faces and as Sylar, my photographer got to work to capture the amazing shots, I networked a bit.
I did not plan for such an exciting event and after attending pretty disappointing wine events, this one sparked the fire that reminded me why I enjoy writing about wine. We tasted 12 wines and a variety of tapas and bitings. The food and wine pairings were well brought. Our apprentice sommelier, Gloria Kinya took us through all the wines. Here is a brief description of the wines we tasted.
